Shannon M. Doherty

Shannon M. Doherty is a highly skilled attorney with extensive experience counseling and defending clients in recreational, products, construction, and general liability litigation. She has successfully represented businesses and individuals in both federal and state courts, earning a reputation for her thorough case preparation and persuasive advocacy. Shannon’s notable victories include obtaining summary judgment for a ski area under the New Hampshire Ski Statute, a motion to dismiss for a general contractor on statute of repose grounds, and summary judgment for a manufacturer on lack of personal jurisdiction.

Shannon earned her J.D., cum laude, from New England School of Law, where she received the New England Scholar Award and the Excellence Award in Workers’ Compensation. During law school, she served as a Case & Note Editor for the New England Journal on Civil and Criminal Confinement and published an article addressing the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. She earned her B.A., magna cum laude, in Psychology from Nazareth College, where she developed strong analytical and research skills that continue to enhance her legal practice.

Before entering private practice, Shannon served as a Law Clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court, where she assisted judges with both civil and criminal matters. As a Senior Law Clerk, she was entrusted with complex cases and mentored new clerks. Shannon has also taught legal research, writing, and analysis courses at New England Law | Boston, sharing her practical experience with future attorneys. Her teaching and mentoring reflect her commitment to excellence in legal education.

Shannon M. Doherty is an active member of the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association and contributes her time to the Discovering Justice Mock Trial Program. Through her leadership, she helps middle school students learn about the legal system, the trial process, and the importance of civic engagement in justice.
