Shana Fried

Shana Fried is an entertainment attorney with more than 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Her work draws on earlier experience as a musician, DJ, artist manager, independent film producer, event producer, and co-owner of an independent record label. Her related practice areas include entertainment law, employment law, business law, contract matters, business disputes, startups, intellectual property, copyright, and trademark matters.

Shana earned a J.D. from New York Law School in 2007 and a degree in music business from Northeastern University. Her academic background complements years of direct work across different parts of the entertainment industry. That combination gives her practical familiarity with the business and legal concerns creative professionals face when building careers, structuring ventures, negotiating agreements, protecting intellectual property, and addressing disputes connected to their work.

Shana began practicing at Martinez Law, a film and entertainment firm in New York and Los Angeles, where she worked first as an associate and later as a partner from 2008 through 2010. In 2010, she and a colleague formed Higgins + Fried in DUMBO, Brooklyn. She later reintroduced the practice on her own in 2014. Her career reflects experience both inside the creative industries and in legal practice serving artists and other creative clients.
