Scott W. Smiley

Scott W. Smiley is an accomplished attorney and managing partner at Thompson, Crawford, Brown & Smiley in Tallahassee, Florida. With over three decades of legal experience, he focuses his practice on complex family law cases, insurance defense, and administrative and governmental law. Known for his deep understanding of trial strategy and courtroom procedure, Scott has successfully represented individuals, families, and government entities in a wide range of legal matters. Scott earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University and his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law. While in law school, he was active in the Student Bar Association and served as a research assistant to Former Dean Orin Slagle, gaining early experience in legal research and writing. This foundation has supported his commitment to clear communication, detailed preparation, and effective representation throughout his career.

Scott gained trial experience at the Law Offices of William H. Webster, where he argued personal injury cases and handled matters involving government, family, and probate, early in his legal career. He later became a partner in the firm and continued building his courtroom skills. Since the formation of Thompson, Crawford, Brown & Smiley, he has led and supported complex cases involving family disputes, custody, child support, and insurance litigation.
