Scott Benjamin

Scott Benjamin is a New York attorney with more than 30 years of experience handling criminal defense, DWI defense, personal injury, divorce, and civil litigation matters. He represents individuals facing serious legal disputes and brings substantial courtroom experience to each case. Scott’s work includes matters ranging from misdemeanor and felony criminal charges to injury claims and family-related disputes, with an emphasis on careful preparation and practical advocacy.

Scott earned his Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University. He has been admitted to practice in New York since 1985 and is also admitted before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. His legal education and decades of trial work have provided a strong foundation in litigation strategy, courtroom procedure, evidence, and client representation.

Earlier in his career, Scott served as a public defender with the Nassau County Legal Aid Society, where he represented thousands of people accused of criminal offenses. His caseload included numerous DWI matters handled from arraignment through jury trial. He later became Deputy Bureau Chief, taking responsibility for trying cases while also supervising and training other attorneys. Scott has secured numerous not-guilty jury verdicts for clients during his criminal defense career.

Scott Benjamin also served as lead trial counsel at a White Plains insurance defense practice, representing companies through their insurers in serious accident litigation. His experience included construction-site labor law claims, elevator injury cases, other significant personal injury disputes, and appeals. He is a member of the New York Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association. His background across criminal and civil litigation supports a practical, trial-focused approach to protecting clients’ interests.
