William J. Smith

William J. Smith represents clients in contract negotiations and disputes, unpaid commissions, business torts, selected employment matters, personal injury cases, and civil rights claims involving serious injury or death at Smith Law, LLC. He has litigated and tried cases in Georgia state and federal trial and appellate courts. His work includes pursuing settlements and judgments for clients while addressing complex factual, contractual, employment, injury, and constitutional issues through focused preparation and courtroom advocacy.

William earned his B.A. in History and Religion from Duke University, where he was a member of the football team. He received his J.D. from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, earning the ABA Award for Excellence in Labor and Employment Law. He also earned his M.B.A., magna cum laude, from Mercer University’s Stetson School of Business, adding business training to his legal background in complex client matters.

William represents clients before Georgia magistrate, state, and superior courts and is admitted to the US District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia. He is also admitted to the Court of Appeals of Georgia, Supreme Court of Georgia, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. His broad admissions support work spanning trial litigation, appellate matters, employment disputes, injury claims, and business-related conflicts throughout Georgia for diverse clients.

William J. Smith is a certified NFLPA agent who represents NFL players and negotiates and drafts NIL contracts for college athletes. He is a lifetime member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and belongs to the American Bar Association, Atlanta Bar Association, National Employment Lawyers Association’s Georgia Chapter, and Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. His practice combines litigation, business knowledge, and sports representation across several areas of client advocacy in Georgia.
