Scott B. Gibson

Scott B. Gibson is a highly accomplished trial attorney with more than three decades of experience representing individuals and families in personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice cases. As the founder of Gibson Steigauf, he has recovered over $200 million in verdicts and settlements, including numerous multimillion-dollar results. His unwavering commitment to justice, preparation, and client advocacy has made him one of Illinois’s most respected plaintiff attorneys.

Scott earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. He also studied International Law at the University of Cambridge, Emmanuel College, and completed studies in English and Government at the University of Manchester. He received his B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Scott has tried more than 85 jury trials across state and federal courts and argued before the Illinois Supreme Court, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, and several Illinois Appellate Districts. His outstanding record and leadership in the courtroom have earned him recognition among the top 1% of personal injury attorneys in Illinois. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Society of Trial Lawyers, and maintains Martindale-Hubbell’s highest “AV” rating for legal ability and ethics.

Before founding his firm, Scott B. Gibson served as a Lake County Felony Career Offender and Sex Crimes Prosecutor, trying more than 40 jury cases and hundreds of bench trials involving serious felony offenses. His transition from prosecution to civil litigation was driven by a commitment to help victims obtain justice.
