About
Ford G. Scalley has spent decades guiding clients through complex legal challenges with a practical, steady approach. His work spans insurance defense, coverage issues, products liability, surety matters, workers’ compensation, construction defect disputes, trade association concerns, anti-trust issues, and personal injury claims. His long career reflects a commitment to thorough advocacy.
Ford completed his B.S. – 1964 at the University of Utah before earning his J.D. – 1967 from the University of Utah College of Law. These academic foundations supported the early development of his legal reasoning and prepared him for advanced work in multiple areas of civil litigation and insurance-related matters throughout his career.
Ford began building his legal experience immediately after law school by clerking for Hon. E.A. Callister of the Utah Supreme Court. He later served as a Special Assistant Attorney General from 1969 to 1971, a role that exposed him to significant legal issues and sharpened the analytical skills he now applies to wide-ranging client needs.
Ford has argued cases in multiple courts, backed by bar admissions that include Utah, the U.S. District Court District of Utah, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His advocacy demonstrates an understanding of both detailed case development and broader legal strategy across jurisdictions.
Ford maintains active involvement in professional groups such as the Salt Lake County Bar Association, American Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network, and the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee. These affiliations reflect his commitment to continued learning and engagement within specialized areas of the law.
Ford G. Scalley continues to assist clients by analyzing facts carefully, shaping practical solutions, and applying experience built across decades of legal service.
