Sarah A. Badten

Sarah A. Badten serves as Of Counsel and concentrates her practice on community association law, representing homeowners and condominium associations throughout Alaska. With over 16 years of experience in association-related matters, she has represented more than 100 associations across the state. She is known for her responsiveness and her commitment to guiding clients through legal challenges involving governance, compliance, real estate, and enforcement.

Badten earned her B.S. from Oregon State University before completing her J.D. at Willamette University College of Law in 2006, where she also served as Articles Editor for the Willamette University College of Law Review. She was admitted to the Alaska Bar in 2007 and remains active in the state’s legal community, including membership in the Alaska State Bar Association and the Community Associations Institute.

Badten’s practice centers on community association and HOA law, with a strong emphasis on enforcing governing documents such as declarations, bylaws, house rules, and assessment obligations. She routinely represents associations in foreclosure actions, super-priority lien enforcement, architectural review and compliance, and nuisance and rule violation matters. She also provides clear, practical guidance on interpreting governing documents so boards and owners understand their rights and responsibilities.

In addition to her association work, Badten handles a wide range of real estate and business disputes, including contract disputes, real estate litigation, creditor’s rights, landlord-tenant matters for landlords, secured transactions, and commercial litigation. She works closely with property management companies to deliver efficient, cost-effective legal solutions tailored to the needs of the associations she serves.

Before entering the legal profession, Sarah A. Badten worked as an account manager providing marketing solutions for companies in diverse industries, developing skills in problem-solving and client service that continue to inform her practice. She has also shared her expertise through seminars on homeowner and condominium association issues and has been recognized with the Anchorage Daily News “Achievement in Business” Award in 2020.
