Ryan J. Letson is a partner whose practice focuses on intellectual property and technology law. He represents clients in patent and trademark prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and regularly handles matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. In addition to prosecution work, he represents clients in IP disputes in state and federal courts, providing comprehensive counsel on protecting and enforcing intellectual property.
Letson earned his B.S. from the University of Alabama, where he was recognized as a member of Jasons Men’s Undergraduate Senior Honorary. He received his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where he served as President of the Student Bar Association and contributed to the American Journal of Trial Advocacy. This combination of technical training and legal scholarship has equipped him to manage highly complex IP and technology cases effectively.
Letson’s technical background includes experience across a wide spectrum of industries and innovations. He has worked on intellectual property matters related to computer hardware and software, electronics, data communication networks, payment processing systems, e-commerce platforms, biometric sensors, automotive technology, autonomous vehicles, electromechanical devices, composite materials, building systems, construction materials, manufacturing techniques, and structural systems. Beyond IP, he also has litigation experience in contract disputes, business torts, government contracts, and real estate matters.
Ryan J. Letson is admitted to practice in Alabama, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and in multiple federal courts, including the Eastern District of Texas. He is active in professional and community organizations, serving on the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association Executive Committee, the Huntsville Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees, and the AI Huntsville Leadership Team.
