David W. Holt

David W. Holt is a partner at Loftin Holt Hall Hargett LLP, where he represents businesses and individuals in complex litigation and intellectual property protection. His practice spans shareholder disputes, real estate conflicts, contract matters, and intellectual property litigation, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret cases. Licensed in Alabama, Tennessee, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he has appeared in state and federal courts across Alabama and throughout the United States.

Holt earned his B.S., summa cum laude, in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Computer Based Honors Program and several engineering honor societies. He continued at Alabama to complete his M.S. in Chemical Engineering before pursuing his J.D., summa cum laude, at the University of Alabama School of Law. There, he served as Editor in Chief of the Alabama Law Review, was named a Hugo Black Scholar, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.

As a registered U.S. Patent Attorney, Holt advises clients on the identification, protection, and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He counsels on patent prosecution, trademark registration, copyright protection, trade secret matters, and computer technology issues. His dual background in chemical engineering and law provides clients with both technical and legal insight, making him especially effective in high-stakes intellectual property disputes and portfolio management.

David W. Holt is active in professional and community leadership. He serves as President of the Huntsville Bar Association for 2024–2025, has held leadership roles with the Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program, and contributes to advisory boards at the University of Alabama.
