About
Craig H. Durham has built a distinguished career in criminal defense and civil rights litigation, representing clients in state and federal courts for more than two decades. His work spans trials, appeals, post-conviction proceedings, and federal habeas matters, where he has consistently advocated for fairness, justice, and constitutional protections.
Craig began his academic journey at the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English and Anthropology in 1992. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1996. These academic foundations strengthened his skills in research, writing, and analysis, which became central to his appellate and litigation practice.
Craig started his legal career as an Assistant Appellate Defender in Kansas and Idaho, where he argued over 100 felony cases and mentored junior attorneys. He later served as a Deputy Public Defender and then as a Capital Case Staff Attorney with the United States District Court in Idaho. For nearly ten years, he assisted federal judges on death penalty cases, habeas petitions, and prisoner civil rights suits, gaining extensive insight into complex litigation.
Craig has also represented clients in criminal defense and family law, handling appeals and constitutional claims with dedication. His particular focus has included white-collar defense and civil rights disputes involving excessive force and unlawful searches. Over time, he has become a trusted advocate for those facing challenges in both trial and appellate settings.
Craig H. Durham continues to provide skilled representation before Idaho state and federal courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States. His membership in both the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers reflects his deep commitment to advancing the rights of his clients. Through each stage of his career, he has maintained a steadfast focus on protecting constitutional freedoms and ensuring justice is served.
