Russell D. Barr

Russell D. Barr is the founder and managing partner of Barr Law Group in Stowe. His practice covers litigation, regulatory matters, and transactions, including class actions, commercial disputes, real estate matters, personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, and toxic torts. He also represents businesses and individuals before government agencies and advises on complex transactions. His work draws on experience in both New York and Vermont legal and business matters.

Russell earned a B.S., cum laude, and an M.B.A. from the State University of New York. He later received his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. His business and legal education supports work involving finance, transactions, regulatory issues, commercial disputes, and complex litigation. The combination of management and legal training helps him assess matters from both legal and business perspectives when clients face financial, operational, or strategic concerns.

Russell began his career working on international tax matters at Coopers & Lybrand, Gilbert, Segall & Young, and Proskauer Rose before opening his own practice in 1993. Representative work includes counsel on a $110 million casino and hotel financing for the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe and a $25 million Vermont resort project involving real estate registrations.

Russell D. Barr is admitted in New York and Vermont, the US Tax Court, the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and several federal district courts. He belongs to multiple bar and trial-lawyer associations.
