Roderick E. Edmond

Roderick E. Edmond is the managing and founding partner of The Edmond Firm in Atlanta. He concentrates his practice on plaintiffs’ wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury cases, including medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, product liability, and premises liability. With a rare background in both medicine and law, he brings clinical knowledge and courtroom experience to complex cases involving severe injuries and preventable deaths.

Dr. Edmond earned a B.S. in Biology from Morehouse College and an M.D. from Duke University. He also holds a J.D. from Georgetown University. He completed postgraduate training in general surgery at Beaumont Army Medical Center and served five years as a physician and captain in the United States Army. While stationed at the Pentagon, he attended law school at night, combining medical service with formal legal training.

After practicing managed care medicine and operating a medical legal consulting company, Dr. Edmond transitioned fully into litigation. He practiced with The Cochran Firm under Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr., helping secure multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts. His work included resolving the civil case for the Brentwood anthrax victim’s family and achieving significant results in medical negligence and nursing home litigation matters.

Since founding his firm in 2003, Roderick E. Edmond has pursued serious injury and wrongful death claims across the country. He has represented victims of the Imperial Sugar Refinery explosion and pursued federal litigation on behalf of victims in high-profile international matters. Through medical expertise, disciplined preparation, and assertive advocacy, he works to hold institutions accountable and obtain meaningful compensation for injured clients and grieving families.
