Robin W. Asher is a principal at Miller Canfield and serves as Intellectual Property Deputy Group Leader. He focuses his legal practice on intellectual property law, with emphasis on patents, trademarks, copyrights, technology transfer, and IP litigation. He represents a range of domestic and international clients in complex IP matters.

Robin earned his Bachelor of Science from Michigan Technological University in 1988 and his Juris Doctor from Detroit College of Law in 1992. He is licensed in Michigan, registered before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a foreign practitioner with Canada’s College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents.

Robin has extensive experience in managing global IP portfolios for Fortune 500 companies. His work includes advising corporate counsel and engineering teams, preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications, conducting freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses, and handling IP due diligence and transactional matters.

Robin advises clients on modern IP strategies, including licensing, technology development agreements, and technology transfers. He also supports complex IP litigation in U.S. federal courts, before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), the European Patent Office (EPO), and other leading intellectual property tribunals.
