Robert Tomlinson is a veteran trial attorney with a distinguished record of success in high-stakes litigation. With a career spanning decades and more than 70 jury trials completed, his practice covers product liability, intellectual property, antitrust, environmental law, oil well failures, and complex commercial disputes. He is widely respected for representing national clients in high-profile matters.
Robert holds a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and earned his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1975. Before becoming a lawyer, he worked as a mechanical engineer at Sandia Corporation and Charles Machine Works while attending law school at night—an experience that shaped his practical, client-focused approach to litigation.
Robert’s experience includes defending major manufacturers in product liability cases and leading intellectual property litigation involving patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and restrictive covenants. He also has a strong record in environmental litigation, including his role as defense counsel in the landmark EPA Superfund trial for the Hardage site, where he secured client savings of over $100 million.
Robert’s notable representations include defending Philip Morris in Medicaid-related litigation and prosecuting counterfeit trademark cases. He has also defended clients in corporate takeover battles, professional negligence claims, and disputes involving personal injury and defective products across multiple industries.
Robert Tomlinson is admitted to practice in all Oklahoma state and federal courts, the U.S. Supreme Court, and several federal circuits. He has also been admitted pro hac vice in courts across the U.S. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, founder of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s House Counsel Section, and has been recognized as an Oklahoma Super Lawyer.
