Robert M. Grant, Jr. is an experienced attorney with a distinguished legal career spanning several decades in North Carolina. He has represented individuals, municipalities, and organizations in complex legal matters, with primary concentrations in personal injury, medical malpractice, civil litigation, municipal law, and selected criminal defense cases across state and federal courts.
Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Wake Forest University in 1971. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest School of Law in 1974. His formal education provided a strong analytical foundation that supported his early entry into public service and later success in private practice.
From 1974 through 1978, Robert served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Twenty-Fifth Judicial District of North Carolina, prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases in both Superior and District Courts. His prosecutorial work involved serious criminal matters, including violent crimes, white-collar offenses, and property crimes, contributing to extensive courtroom experience early in his career.
Following his service as a prosecutor, Robert joined the firm of Corne, Corne & Grant in Newton, North Carolina, becoming a principal in 1983. Since 1979, he has represented clients in a broad range of civil matters, with particular emphasis on personal injury, medical malpractice, municipal law, and general civil litigation, including wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases.
Robert has also served as City Attorney for the City of Claremont and as interim City Attorney for the City of Newton, advising on zoning, land use, personnel matters, condemnation, and governmental regulations. His municipal work includes representation of governmental entities in litigation matters.
Robert M. Grant, Jr. is a member of multiple bar associations and is admitted to practice before all levels of North Carolina courts and several federal courts.
