Robert G. Sullivan

Robert G. Sullivan is the senior member of Sullivan Papain Block McManus Coffinas & Cannavo P.C. Based in Garden City, New York, he is known as a top trial lawyer and public interest advocate. His work focuses on equal justice, client relief, and major civil litigation.

Robert earned his B.A. from Marquette University in 1968. He earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 1973. After graduating from law school, he was admitted to the bar in 1974 and quickly became known for strong courtroom work.

Robert joined the firm in 1972 as a clerk to Harry Lipsig, a respected New York trial lawyer. He became a member of the firm only two years after bar admission. In 1977, he was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Robert has tried cases for more than 40 years and has helped shape negligence law. His practice areas include construction accidents, litigation, mass torts, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and negligence, plaintiff’s personal injury, and product liability. He continues to assist clients with sophisticated legal matters.

Robert has secured major results for injured clients, including a groundbreaking, multimillion-dollar settlement for firefighters injured and families affected by the 1978 Waldbaum’s Supermarket fire in Brooklyn. He has also obtained multi-million dollar verdicts, including a $22 million verdict against the City of New York.

Robert is admitted in New York, Florida, the U.S. Supreme Court, and several U.S. District Courts in New York. He belongs to the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, and the Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, demonstrating long service in trial practice.
