Robert E. Murkowski

Robert E. Murkowski is a principal at Miller Canfield and co-leader of the firm’s Automotive Industry team. His litigation practice spans commercial, antitrust, securities, intellectual property, and product liability disputes. He represents clients in both state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration and regulatory proceedings.

Robert earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in 2009, where he served as Managing Editor of the Wayne Law Review, captain of the National Competition Mock Trial Team, and received multiple honors, including the Bronze and Gold Key Awards. He earned his Bachelor of Science cum laude from Eastern Michigan University in 2006, where he was a Presidential Scholar and Student Government President.

Robert represents major manufacturers, OEMs, and tiered suppliers in complex supply chain disputes, stop-ship situations, pricing issues, warranty claims, and UCC-related litigation. He serves as counsel to the Original Equipment Supplier Association (OESA) and is highly regarded in the automotive legal space.

In addition to his automotive and commercial litigation work, Robert handles corporate governance and shareholder disputes, minority oppression claims, class actions, and regulatory investigations. He also defends financial professionals in FINRA proceedings and has litigated patent, trademark, and trade secret cases within the firm’s IP group.

Named a Michigan Super Lawyers “Rising Star” from 2013–2019 and a Top Lawyer by DBusiness Magazine, Robert E. Murkowski continues to earn recognition for his litigation skills and leadership. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Detroit Bar Association and holds leadership roles in the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association.
