Robert E.Chernicoff is a highly experienced attorney who has devoted more than four decades to the practice of law in Pennsylvania. He focuses on bankruptcy, debtor-creditor matters, business law, and tax-related issues at Cunningham, Chernicoff & Warshawsky, P.C., as a managing member. Throughout his career, he has represented individuals, businesses, and creditor groups in complex legal problems, earning a reputation for steady judgment, deep legal knowledge, and practical problem-solving in high-stakes cases.

Mr. Chernicoff earned his J.D. from Washington University School of Law and his B.A. from the Pennsylvania State University, Rochester, New York. His academic background provided a strong foundation in legal analysis, financial matters, and business principles. This education has strengthened his ability to handle complex bankruptcy and commercial issues and to provide clients with clear, informed legal guidance at every stage of their cases.

Mr. Chernicoff served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and as Assistant Chief Counsel for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry before entering private practice. These roles gave him valuable insight into government operations and regulatory systems.

Mr. Chernicoff has been deeply involved in complex Chapter 11 proceedings, representing both debtors and creditors’ committees and achieving numerous confirmed reorganization plans and successful asset sales in private practice. He has helped clients resolve challenging financial situations by guiding businesses through restructurings, protecting creditor interests, and navigating tax collection matters in federal courts, including the United States Tax Court.

Robert E.Chernicoff has also been appointed as a court-approved Receiver in significant real estate matters, where his negotiations resulted in full repayment to bondholders. Through decades of professional service, he has consistently delivered reliable legal solutions that help clients move forward with confidence and stability.
