About

Robert E. Aycock is a seasoned member of Kimball Anderson’s litigation group, focusing on intellectual property law and related transactional matters. His practice encompasses patent, trademark, and copyright infringement litigation, as well as trade secret, false advertising, and unfair competition cases. He also prepares legal opinions on validity, infringement, unenforceability, and patentability.

Robert earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2000, where he was awarded the Dewsnup Fellowship, which included a clerkship with the Utah Attorney General’s Office in the Natural Resources Division. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, cum laude, from Utah State University. Before entering law, he worked as a biologist for Utah State University, a background that enhances his technical understanding of complex IP disputes.

Robert has represented clients across diverse industries, including sports and recreational equipment, communication networks, kitchen appliances, exercise equipment, and blow-molded plastics. His courtroom experience includes leading a defense team to a landmark jury verdict of non-infringement and invalidity in a multinational patent dispute over keyboard-video-mouse switch technology, reducing potential liability by more than two-thirds.

Robert’s professional recognition includes listings in The Best Lawyers in America for Litigation – Intellectual Property (2016–2021) and Mountain States Super Lawyers for Intellectual Property Litigation (2021). These honors reflect his commitment to excellence, strategic advocacy, and deep subject-matter knowledge.

In addition to his trial work, Robert E. Aycock advises clients on licensing, non-competition covenants, and IP portfolio strategies. His ability to combine technical insight, litigation skill, and business-minded counsel makes him a trusted advocate for companies seeking to protect and enforce their intellectual property rights. Through meticulous preparation and persuasive advocacy, he continues to secure favorable outcomes in high-stakes disputes.
