Ricky K. Patel focuses his practice on complex litigation, crisis management, mass torts, international class action litigation, arbitration, and hospitality matters. He represents clients in state and federal court and works with hospitality industry businesses. He also has experience handling legislative projects and serving as a public voice for clients.
Ricky earned his J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2009. He also earned a B.S./B.A. from Florida State University in 2005. His education helped build a strong foundation in litigation, public service, and advocacy that continues to guide his legal practice and community leadership today.
Ricky received many honors during his career. He was recognized as a Legal Luminary for Class Action Litigation by St. Thomas University Benjamin L. Crump College of Law in 2024. He also received the AAHOA Chairman’s Award, Super Lawyers recognition, and Best Lawyers listing for Leisure and Hospitality Law.
Ricky has represented more than 3,500 corporate victims affected by a major environmental disaster. His clients included municipalities, government agencies, tourism businesses, and hotels. He also successfully settled an international product liability class action against one of the world’s largest electronics manufacturers in a significant legal matter.
Ricky is deeply involved in charitable and community work. He founded ITS4THEKIDS, co-founded Gracious Hands Orphanage in Haiti, and launched Puerto Rico Relief. He also serves in leadership positions with organizations including Make-A-Wish Foundation South Florida, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation, and St. Thomas University School of Law.
Ricky K. Patel is admitted to practice in Florida, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida. He speaks Gujarati and continues to support clients in litigation, hospitality, and international legal matters with dedication and experience.
