Richard G. Long, Jr. is a North Carolina attorney and partner with decades of experience serving individuals, families, and municipalities. He began practicing law in 1982 and has built a career grounded in general practice and long-term community service. His current work centers on family law, municipal law, mediation, arbitration, and residential and commercial real estate, with a significant portion of his practice devoted to complex family and public-sector matters.

Mr. Long earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. His academic background provided a strong foundation in legal analysis, public policy, and advocacy. Licensed in North Carolina since 1982, he has continuously practiced for more than four decades, adapting his skills to meet evolving legal and community needs.

Throughout his career, Mr. Long has held leadership roles within the legal profession. He is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission–certified Family Financial Mediator and Superior Court Mediator. He currently serves as the Monroe City Attorney, advising municipal leadership on legal compliance, governance, and public matters. His experience also includes prior leadership positions within county and judicial district bar associations.
