Richard B. Hicks has practiced law since 1995, building a career centered on litigation, family law, and criminal law. Richard completed his undergraduate studies at Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia, in 1990, earning a B.S., Major: English. He later earned his J.D. from Thomas Cooley Law School. During law school, he served on Law Review: Thomas Cooley Law School, Writing Editor, strengthening his legal research and writing skills.
Richard has extensive trial experience as a litigator, having tried more than 100 jury cases. His background includes prosecuting matters ranging from driving offenses to capital murder. This depth of courtroom exposure shaped his ability to analyze evidence, present clear arguments, and adapt strategy to the facts of each case.
Richard also served as a Special Prosecutor for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office and as a Boone County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. In these roles, he managed high-profile cases and worked within demanding legal environments that required sound discretion, ethical decision-making, and close coordination with investigators and court personnel.
Richard brings particular insight to family-related matters through years of handling cases involving crimes committed against children. This work required close collaboration with families and professionals, always focusing on outcomes that protected vulnerable individuals while respecting the legal process and the responsibilities of the court system.
Richard B. Hicks is admitted to practice in Missouri in 1995 and remains an active member of the Missouri Bar Association and the Boone County Bar Association.
