Rex M. Terry is a distinguished attorney with extensive experience in commercial litigation, oil and gas law, complex transactional matters, trusts, estates, and probate. He has served as trial counsel in significant legal cases and has been involved in numerous class action lawsuits. His practice also includes appellate advocacy, where he has successfully argued cases before the Arkansas Supreme Court, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and regulatory commissions.
Mr. Terry earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1976 after completing his Bachelor of Arts at Ouachita Baptist University in 1973. During law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Arkansas Law Review, demonstrating his early commitment to legal scholarship. His education laid the foundation for a successful litigation, corporate law, and public service career.
Throughout his career, Mr. Terry has represented clients in high-stakes oil and gas litigation, insurance defense, and corporate legal matters. He has served as trial counsel for major corporations, including Kansas City Southern Railway, and continues to advise Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative Corporation as General Counsel. His legal acumen has led to successful outcomes in complex disputes across multiple industries.
Mr. Terry also brings extensive appellate experience, having argued numerous cases before both state and federal courts. A recognized authority in his field, he has been appointed as a Special Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court three times. He is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and has been selected to Super Lawyers for more than 15 years, including recognition among the Top 50 lawyers in Arkansas for three of those years.
Beyond his litigation work, Rex M. Terry has dedicated time to public service, serving on boards and commissions, including the Fort Smith Housing Authority and the Sebastian County Election Commission.
