About
Randy Rathbun is a trial lawyer in Wichita, Kansas, whose work focuses on employment litigation. He represents employees in workplace disputes and advocates for people harmed by environmental contamination, toxic exposure, defective products, and catastrophic injuries. His practice draws on years of experience presenting complex claims and seeking accountability for those affected. Randy also represents landowners in environmental cases, an area of law that has remained central to his career.
Randy earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Kansas State University in 1975. He received his Juris Doctor from Washburn University in 1978 and served on the Board of the Washburn Law Journal. Raised on a farm in Ellsworth County, Kansas, he credits that experience with teaching him the value of hard work and listening before speaking. Those habits inform his approach to understanding clients’ concerns and preparing their cases.
Randy served as the U.S. Attorney for Kansas from 1993 to 1996. During that time, he was a member of Attorney General Janet Reno’s Advisory Committee of U.S. Attorneys. He assisted the Department of Justice in prosecuting the Oklahoma City bombing case and helped organize a Violent Crime Task Force in Wichita. His public service adds to a trial practice that includes employment disputes, environmental and toxic exposure claims, product liability cases, and serious injury litigation.
Randy Rathbun has received recognition for his trial work and environmental litigation. He has appeared in The Best Lawyers in America for environmental litigation since 1995 and has been listed in Chambers USA for plaintiff-side employment and environmental law. He was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2002 and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers in 2019. He is also a member of the Kansas and Wichita Bar Associations.
