About
Ramona C. Howard is a shareholder at Sommers Schwartz, where she focuses her practice on appellate litigation involving medical malpractice, personal injury, and employment matters. She prepares and argues cases before state and federal appellate courts and is dedicated to helping clients pursue justice after being harmed by others’ negligence.
Ramona earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School, where she served as Assistant Editor and Production Editor of the Wayne Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, summa cum laude, from Wayne State University and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
After law school, Ramona began her legal career at a small personal injury firm, where she developed a strong interest in medical malpractice litigation. With the exception of one year spent working in the Pre-Hearing Division of the Michigan Court of Appeals, she has dedicated her entire career to representing clients in medical malpractice and personal injury cases at both the trial and appellate levels.
As an appellate attorney, Ramona understands that effective advocacy often begins at the trial court level. She spends significant time briefing and arguing critical legal issues before trial courts to protect her clients’ positions and, when possible, prevent the need for appeal altogether. Her work reflects careful analysis, clarity, and strategic focus.
Ramona C. Howard is admitted to practice in Michigan, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Her honors include recognition by Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, Leading Lawyers, and Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Through her work, she remains committed to helping clients achieve fairness, accountability, and meaningful justice.
