Rahul “Monish” B. Patel

Rahul “Monish” B. Patel is the founding partner of Patel Defense, LLC, serving clients in Noblesville, Indianapolis, and communities throughout Central Indiana. His practice focuses on criminal defense, including DUI and DWI, sex crimes, drug offenses, white collar crimes, and other felony and misdemeanor matters. Patel also handles personal injury cases. He has represented thousands of clients and brings substantial courtroom experience to cases involving serious criminal allegations and traffic-related offenses.

Patel earned his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington in 2000, where he served as president of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. He later earned an M.S. in Biology from Purdue University in 2003 and received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Xavier University. His education in law, science, and economics provides a broad analytical foundation for evaluating evidence, understanding complex factual issues, and developing practical defense strategies.

Before entering private defense practice, Patel served as a deputy prosecutor with the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office and later worked as a felony attorney with the Marion County Public Defender’s Office from 2007 to 2012. His experience on both the prosecution and defense sides gives him insight into charging decisions, evidence, plea negotiations, and trial preparation. He has handled matters ranging from murder cases to misdemeanors, DUI and drug offenses, and traffic infractions.

Rahul “Monish” B. Patel is admitted to practice in Indiana and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He is a member of the Indiana Bar Association and remains involved with Indiana University School of Law through speaking engagements and work with students. Patel’s background as a prosecutor, public defender, and private criminal defense attorney supports a practical approach to protecting clients’ rights and navigating high-stakes criminal proceedings.
