Philip C. Lawson

Philip C. Lawson is a Kentucky trial attorney whose practice focuses on federal criminal defense, state criminal defense, civil litigation, family law, and personal injury matters. He represents clients in serious felony cases, complex disputes, and high-stakes investigations. With extensive courtroom experience, he has handled matters ranging from traffic offenses and DUI charges to major criminal prosecutions. His approach combines disciplined preparation, strategic advocacy, and practical guidance throughout every stage of litigation.

Philip Coleman Lawson earned his B.A. in History with a minor in Government from Centre College. He later received his J.D. from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. During law school, he was active in moot court and mock trial and clerked for a mid-size firm as well as the Kentucky Court of Appeals. His education and clerkship experience built a strong foundation in trial and appellate practice.

After law school, Philip served as a Trial Attorney with the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, representing hundreds of clients in district, circuit, juvenile, and family courts. He later joined a large statewide firm where he expanded his practice to include insurance defense, federal criminal defense, personal injury, and complex civil litigation. He now continues to represent clients across Kentucky in criminal and civil matters.

Philip C. Lawson also serves as legislative agent for the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, tracking and advising on criminal justice legislation before the General Assembly. Recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers and included in Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch,” he remains committed to effective courtroom advocacy and careful legal strategy.
