Peter G. Pappas is a Partner and Co-Global Head of IP based in Atlanta, United States. He counsels clients on intellectual property protection, enforcement, and strategy across a wide range of industries. His work supports businesses at every stage of product development, helping them secure, manage, and defend valuable innovations.
Peter earned a B.S.Ch.E., University of Alabama, and was recognized as Fellow, Chemical and Bioengineering Department. He later received a J.D., The University of Alabama School of Law. His technical training shapes his approach to chemical and mechanical patent prosecution and strengthens his ability to address complex scientific and engineering issues.
Peter advises companies in life sciences, energy, chemical, industrial manufacturing, and fashion brand sectors. His experience includes patent and trademark prosecution, federal trademark matters, Hatch-Waxman litigation, Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs), cancellation and opposition proceedings, trade secrets, and copyrights. He also negotiates and drafts intellectual property terms in merger and acquisition agreements, license agreements, supply agreements, and contract research agreements.
Peter has handled matters involving pharmaceuticals, polymeric nonwoven products, water treatment, renewable energy, ceramics, apparel, packaged beverage manufacturing, food chemistry, textiles, agricultural chemicals, and polymer technology. He prepares freedom to operate, validity, and infringement opinions and provides transaction diligence support. He is registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
