Peter C. Hansen

Peter C. Hansen is Principal Counsel at the Law Offices of Peter C. Hansen, LLC. He is a public international law specialist and trial and appellate attorney advising private and public-sector clients on international and domestic matters. His clients worldwide have included corporations, international organizations, arbitration centers, and individuals. He handles matters involving international employment disputes, misconduct investigations, World Bank sanctions and debarment, investment issues, complex civil litigation, and appeals.

Peter earned his LL.M. from Cambridge University in 2004 and his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in 1996. He also earned an M.A. in International Economic Policy from American University School of International Service in 1997 and a B.A., magna cum laude, in International Affairs in 1993. His education supports a practice combining international law, policy, litigation, cross-border legal analysis, and client advocacy worldwide across complex matters.

Peter has represented clients before international and domestic tribunals and has handled significant matters involving employment law, discrimination, sexual assault allegations, investment issues, and public-private partnerships. Earlier in his career, he worked in several roles at the World Bank and served as a Legal Officer in the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs. He has also advised ECOWAS and assisted clients worldwide in complex World Bank debarment and sanctions proceedings.

Peter C. Hansen has taught international law at American University School of International Service and trained African officials in planning and managing public-private partnerships. He has also provided briefings for the US Congress, US State Department, Ex-Im Bank, and World Bank forums. He is admitted to the District of Columbia and New York, has held leadership roles with the D.C. Bar and Cambridge Society of Washington, D.C., and is fluent in French.
