Penniann J. Schumann

Penniann J. Schumann has more than 25 years of experience in estate planning, wills and trusts, estate administration, trust administration, and elder law. She assists clients with revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and guardianships, guiding individuals and families through important legal decisions with clarity and care.

Penniann earned her B.A. in Economics with minors in French and Italian from the University of Utah, and then completed her J.D. at Saint Louis University School of Law. She went on to earn an LL.M. in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law in 1994, further refining her expertise in advanced planning and wealth preservation. She was admitted to the Utah Bar that same year.

Penniann’s career encompasses work in both private practice and the financial sector. From 2006 to 2008, she served as a trustee at Key Bank, administering trusts across Utah and Idaho. This role provided her with unique insight into how banks interpret and execute trust provisions, knowledge she continues to apply when drafting trust documents and advising clients in administration matters.

Returning to private practice in 2008, Penniann built upon her earlier legal experience at Richards, Brandt, Miller & Nelson. Today, she provides comprehensive estate planning services, helping clients protect assets, reduce estate tax burdens, and plan for long-term care needs. She also represents families in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, ensuring the protection of vulnerable individuals.
