Susan J. Mehregan

Susan J. Mehregan has been practicing law for more than 35 years, bringing extensive experience to estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, guardianships, conservatorships, and real property matters. She has represented clients across multiple states, providing practical solutions with compassion and professionalism throughout her career.

Susan earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1981 before completing her J.D. at the University of Toledo College of Law in 1984. She was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1984 and the Minnesota Bar in 1987, and later became licensed in Utah. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Susan began her career as an associate attorney at Miller Canfield Paddock & Stone, where she gained early litigation experience in personal injury law. She later served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Monroe Bank & Trust for 23 years, where she advised on retirement plans, trust administration, contracts, real property law, and litigation in state and federal courts. This role gave her invaluable insights into estate and trust matters from a financial institution’s perspective.

In 2019, Susan joined the Law Office of Penniann J. Schumann, PLLC, where she continues to focus on estate planning and elder law. She also provides representation in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, ensuring the rights and interests of vulnerable individuals are protected.
