Paul Sperry

Paul Sperry has spent more than 20 years representing Design Professionals, Contractors, Owners, and others involved in the construction industry across South Carolina and beyond. In 2024, he founded Sperry Law Firm to deliver tailored, high-quality legal services specifically for construction industry professionals, with an emphasis on proactive guidance and effective dispute resolution.

Paul earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina in 2000. Prior to law school, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from George Washington University in 1996. His strong academic background provided the platform for a highly respected and specialized legal career.

Before founding Sperry Law Firm, Paul served as the managing partner at a prominent Charleston law firm with a significant focus on litigation and insurance defense. This prior experience equips him with a deep understanding of risk management and liability issues, offering clients a strategic edge, particularly when facing professional liability and construction defect lawsuits.

At Sperry Law Firm, Paul delivers full-service general counsel support for businesses, including contract drafting, review, and negotiation, along with project advisory services and proactive risk mitigation strategies. He also advocates for clients in construction and commercial litigation—handling payment disputes, project delays, and construction-related claims in both court and arbitration.

In addition to his active practice, Paul Sperry is a certified mediator in construction disputes and a frequent speaker at seminars addressing construction contracts, payment claim procedures, and best practices for conflict avoidance. In 2018, Paul was recognized by his peers and honored as one of the top construction attorneys in Charleston, as featured in Charleston Business Magazine’s Legal Elite.
