Paul F. Novak is a managing attorney known for taking on powerful corporations in environmental, consumer protection, and antitrust cases. Based in Detroit, he has spent his career pursuing justice for the public, often challenging corporate practices that harm people, raise prices, or pollute communities.
Novak holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Economics from Michigan State University, earned in 1982 and 1983. He received his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1986. This academic foundation in both economics and law shapes his approach to tackling complex litigation matters with a deep understanding of market and legal systems.
Early in his career, Novak served as an Assistant Attorney General in Michigan, where he stopped a $1.5 billion illegal utility transaction, saving ratepayers millions. Over the years, he has led multimillion-dollar lawsuits, including an $80 million settlement against pharmaceutical companies involved in price manipulation through “pay for delay” agreements.
Recognized for his leadership, Novak has served as lead counsel in numerous class action lawsuits. His experience spans antitrust, environmental enforcement, and securities litigation. He also led Michigan’s Special Litigation Division and served as City Attorney for Lansing, giving him deep insight into regulatory enforcement.
