Patricia R. Monson is a seasoned attorney with more than four decades of litigation and mediation experience in North Dakota and Minnesota. She is the founder of the Center for Mediation & Consultation (CMC), PLLC, where she offers a full range of legal services focused on resolving disputes both inside and outside the courtroom. Her practice includes employment law, civil rights, construction, personal injury, workers’ compensation, commercial litigation, and ethics and professional responsibility.
Ms. Monson earned her law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1979, where she served as Articles Editor for the North Dakota Law Review and was a member of the legal fraternity Phi Delta Phi. She graduated with a double major in German and Psychology from the University of North Dakota, which she completed in 1972. She taught undergraduate law courses at UND during her academic career, including Legal Research and Writing, Appellate Advocacy, Trial Advocacy, and Criminal Law.
Before founding the Center for Mediation & Consultation (CMC), PLLC, Ms. Monson practiced with several respected firms, including Felhaber, Larson, Fenlon & Vogt P.A. in Minneapolis, Nilles, Hansen & Davies Ltd. in Fargo, and Dorsey & Whitney LLP. Her career has included extensive trial work representing both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts. She is AV® rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, the highest rating based on evaluations by her legal peers, recognizing her for exceptional ethical standards and legal ability.
In addition to litigation, Ms. Monson is a highly experienced mediator and arbitrator, having successfully resolved numerous complex cases involving healthcare, employment disputes, personal injury, OSHA claims, and more. She is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for North Dakota and Minnesota, and all North Dakota and Minnesota state courts.
Patricia R. Monson has held numerous leadership roles in legal organizations, including service on the North Dakota Supreme Court Disciplinary Board, the State Bar Association Ethics Committee, and the Judicial Nominating Committee.
