About
Nathaniel R. Boulton is a partner with Hedberg & Boulton, P.C., where he represents workers in cases involving compensation claims, labor disputes, personal injury, and employment law. Since joining the firm in 2005 and becoming a partner in 2007, he has been recognized as a dedicated advocate for employee rights and workplace fairness across Iowa.
Mr. Boulton earned his Bachelor of Arts in history and political science, cum laude, from Simpson College in 2002. He went on to receive both his Master of Public Administration and Juris Doctor degrees, with Honors, and a Certificate in Legislative Practice from Drake University in 2005. While in law school, he served on the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law editorial board and was later admitted to practice in the Iowa state and federal courts.
In his practice, Mr. Boulton has represented individuals in workers’ compensation claims, wrongful discharge cases, and personal injury litigation. He has also served as president of the Iowa Workers’ Compensation Advisory Committee and vice president of the Iowa Association for Justice, reflecting his leadership in advancing workers’ rights. His appellate work includes key cases before the Iowa Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
Beyond his law practice, Mr. Boulton has taught labor law at Drake University Law School and law-related courses at Simpson College and William Penn University. He has also authored publications on workers’ compensation law and legislative issues. In addition to his academic contributions, he has served in the Iowa Senate since 2016, where he continues to advocate for fairness, workplace protections, and community priorities.
Through his combined roles as lawyer, educator, and legislator, Nathaniel R. Boulton brings both legal expertise and public service to his representation of clients throughout Iowa.
