Nathan A. Beaton represents life sciences clients in important and complex matters before the US Food and Drug Administration. His work often centers on high-stakes disputes with the agency. He helps companies seek faster market access, use FDA review programs, and protect product value through regulatory strategies, incentives, and plans.
Nathan earned a JD from the University of Chicago Law School in 2016, With Honors. He earned an MPP from the University of Chicago in 2016 and a BA from Tufts University in 2012. His education supports his work across FDA and healthcare regulatory matters, as well as artificial intelligence matters, in practice.
Nathan advocates for clients before the FDA in many settings. He guides companies through premarket regulatory meetings, formal and informal dispute resolution, administrative appeals, citizen petitions, and agency rulemaking. He helps clients address FDA questions linked to drug approvals, medical devices, orphan drug exclusivity, and other regulatory programs and requirements.

His experience includes precedent setting decisions involving FDA drug approvals, orphan drug exclusivity, new chemical entity exclusivity, and e-cigarette regulation.
Nathan works on Administrative Procedure Act litigation involving FDA decisions and programs. He challenges agency actions or helps defend them when needed. His practice also covers emerging technology, including gene editing, artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, digital health tools, and novel alternatives to animal testing for life sciences companies and issues.
