Murtaza Sutarwalla is a founding partner at Edwards Sutarwalla Samani LLP, where he focuses his practice on business law, commercial litigation, personal injury, and estate planning. With years of experience in both private practice and public service, he is widely recognized for his leadership, legal insight, and commitment to achieving strong results for clients in Texas and beyond.

Mr. Sutarwalla completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a B.B.A. in Business Honors / MIS and a B.A. in Ethnic Studies. He then attended the University of Chicago Law School, where he received his J.D. His education at two of the nation’s leading universities provided him with both a strong legal foundation and a deep understanding of business and cultural dynamics, equipping him to navigate complex legal matters with skill and perspective.

Murtaza Sutarwalla began his career as a corporate lawyer at Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C., and later practiced in Dubai. He then joined Clifford Chance, working in their Middle East offices. In private practice, he built a reputation for excellence in handling corporate and commercial matters. He later served as Deputy Attorney General for Legal Counsel at the Texas Office of the Attorney General, where he acted as chief counsel to the Attorney General and supervised seven civil divisions. During his tenure, he co-authored more than 50 Texas Attorney General Opinions, oversaw significant litigation, advised state leadership on disaster response, and testified before the Texas Legislature.

Today, as a partner at Edwards Sutarwalla Samani LLP, Mr. Sutarwalla combines his global experience, government service, and private practice expertise to deliver strong advocacy and thoughtful representation for clients across multiple areas of law.
