Miranda J. Mills is a North Carolina criminal defense lawyer and managing partner at  Marcilliat & Mills, PLLC, whose practice is devoted to criminal litigation. She represents clients facing state and federal charges, including serious felony allegations, sex offenses, drug crimes, assault, and other criminal matters. Her work includes jury trials, plea hearings, and negotiations with prosecutors. She has defended clients in cases involving statutory rape, child abduction, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to distribute drugs.

Mills earned a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, where she graduated in the top 25 percent of her class. She served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Wake Forest Law Review. She earned a B.A. in International Studies from Wake Forest University. During law school, she received the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers Book Award and a CALI Excellence for the Future Award.

Mills gained courtroom experience through internships with the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office and the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office. After law school, she worked as an associate attorney at Carl Parrish Law, PLLC, and later at Diener Law, PA. Her practice developed around criminal defense, with a focus on representing people accused of serious offenses. She has handled cases resulting in not-guilty verdicts and dismissals.

Miranda J. Mills is admitted to practice in North Carolina and the US District Courts for the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of North Carolina. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and Mecklenburg County Bar Association. Her professional involvement has included leadership with the North Carolina Association of Justice’s New Lawyers Division. She has written educational materials and contributed to programs aimed at training and mentoring newer attorneys.
