Mike Alessio is a seasoned real estate attorney whose multistate practice centers on complex commercial property transactions. He advises institutional equity investors and developers across multifamily, industrial, office, hotel/resort, mixed-use, and portfolio projects. Mike Alessio guides clients from early planning through closing, blending practical business insight with legal strategy.
Mike earned a B.A. in Economics in 1992 from the University of Texas at Austin. He also received a B.A. in Philosophy in 1992 from the same institution. He later obtained his J.D. in 1995 from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law, cum laude. During law school, he was involved with SMU Law Review and was recognized through the Order of the Coif and Phi Delta Phi Honor Society.
Mike represents investors in acquiring and disposing of investment-grade properties, including large, multi-site and multi-jurisdictional portfolios. His work often involves structuring complex debt and equity arrangements for pension plans, REITs, private equity funds, and educational foundations. He provides clear guidance on joint ventures, helping clients negotiate and manage multi-party investments throughout the full life cycle of a project.
Mike Alessio was admitted to practice in Texas in 1995. Mike also advises on debt acquisition and restructuring, including senior and junior debt facilities and distressed real estate assets. He works with developers on retail centers, multifamily communities, industrial projects, hotel and resort developments, and office build-to-suit properties. His finance experience covers permanent and construction loans, mezzanine financing, and preferred equity transactions, as well as detailed lease negotiations for office, retail, and industrial properties.
