Michael Watkins is an attorney with more than 30 years of legal experience representing clients across multiple practice areas. Michael completed his academic journey by earning a BA (Bachelor of Arts) from Central Methodist University in 1969, which provided a broad foundation in critical thinking and communication. He later advanced his legal education at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1974.
Michael has served in numerous legal roles, including Claims Officer, Defense Attorney, and Military Judge during his service in the U.S. Army JAG Corps. In the public sector, he also worked as a City Attorney and as an Assistant Prosecutor, gaining broad courtroom and advisory experience.
Michael’s practice covers family law, estate planning, wills and trusts, real estate, business and corporate law, injury claims, and criminal defense matters. His criminal work includes DWI and traffic violations, while his mediation training supports constructive resolutions in sensitive family law disputes when appropriate and legally beneficial.
Michael’s career as a trial lawyer includes extensive civil and criminal courtroom experience. He has represented clients in felony and misdemeanor cases resulting in dismissals and Not Guilty verdicts, and he has pursued favorable outcomes through careful preparation, persuasive advocacy, and disciplined litigation strategy overall.
Michael has also represented clients injured in car accidents, truck accidents, and slip and fall cases, working to secure fair compensation for resulting injuries and damages. His civil litigation experience further includes successfully handling breach of contract, trespass, and assault claims through negotiation and trial.
