Michael Mazek

Michael Mazek is the founder and lead attorney at Mazek Law Group LLC, a boutique legal firm based in Chicago. With a legal career rooted in community service and advocacy, he has been a trusted name in Illinois law for over 15 years. His firm provides high-quality legal services across real estate transactions and litigation, estate planning, criminal defense, and bankruptcy. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, earned in 2000, along with a minor in Linguistics. He received his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 2004, where he contributed to The Journal of Computer and Information Law and served clients at the Fair Housing Legal Clinic.

Michael’s early experiences managing rental properties shaped his legal path and sharpened his insight into housing challenges faced by immigrant and underserved communities. At The John Marshall Law School, he played a key role as co-counsel in Godinez v. Lackey-Sullivan, a case that significantly clarified the legal treatment of Section 8 housing vouchers under the Chicago Fair Housing Ordinance.

Since founding Mazek Law Group LLC in 2009, Michael has earned a strong reputation for delivering affordable, results-driven legal representation. He concentrates on real estate closings, short sales, foreclosure defense, probate and estate planning, criminal defense in both state and federal courts, and consumer bankruptcy, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 filings.
