About
Michael J. Rose is widely recognized as a leading Connecticut employment litigator representing governments, public officials, and private businesses. He has tried more than twenty cases to verdict involving employment law and civil rights claims. His courtroom experience and strategic thinking guide employers through complex and high-risk disputes.
Michael earned a B.A., cum laude, in 1989 from the University of New Hampshire. He later received his J.D., 1994, from Franklin Pierce Law Center. During law school, he co-authored “ADR in Patent Dispute Resolution,” Vol. 32 Idea No. 4, 1992, and served as a Legislative Assistant Representative to Richard Swett, U.S. House of Representatives, from 1991-1994.
Michael represents employers in both federal and state courts and before agencies such as the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission, state and federal Departments of Labor, and the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission. He is known for developing creative defense strategies, including interlocutory appeals, federal removal, res judicata arguments, and constitutional challenges.
Michael’s approach reflects his understanding of the statutory and public policy goals behind employment laws. In 2003, he successfully challenged a federal department of labor regulation under the Americans with Disabilities Act, obtaining a ruling that declared the regulation unconstitutional. He has been named among preeminent attorneys in Connecticut and recognized among top lawyers in New England.
Michael J. Rose is admitted to practice in Connecticut and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is active in the Connecticut Bar Association, American Bar Association, and Defense Research Institute.
