Michael A. Moberly has over twenty years of legal experience representing clients in serious criminal defense matters, white collar crime, and environmental law. He has handled complex state and federal cases, guiding clients through challenging legal situations with skill and dedication. His work includes defending individuals facing major felonies, misdemeanors, and regulatory investigations.

Michael began his academic path earning a B.S. in Fisheries Management from the University of Washington in 1992, later completing his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 1995.

Michael’s career spans key roles across state, federal, and quasi-governmental agencies, including the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, NOAA, and the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission. He also worked in Washington, D.C., advising U.S. Senator Ted Stevens on natural resource and environmental policy, before returning to Alaska to serve as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court.

Michael’s early private practice involved corporate and business matters, including representing Alaska Native corporations. Later, as a Felony Trial Attorney at the Alaska Public Defender Agency, he developed a strong courtroom presence. He has since built a private practice focused on defending clients in state and federal courts.

Michael is an active member of professional legal organizations, including the Alaska and National Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Federal Bar Association. He served as President of the Alaska Bar Association and twice on its Board of Governors. He has contributed to legal education as a faculty member on criminal defense, motion practice, and ethics, and has been part of the Bar’s Disciplinary Committee for decades.
