Michael A. Atter

Michael A. Atter is a seasoned legal professional with over four decades of experience representing clients in high-stakes personal injury, medical malpractice, and criminal law matters. His focus has been on advocating for plaintiffs, especially in cases involving traumatic brain injuries, trucking accidents, and complex medical negligence.

Michael began his academic journey at Florida State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1976. He continued his legal education at the Florida State University College of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1979. He is a licensed member of both the Florida Bar and the Federal Bar–Middle District of Florida.

Michael launched his legal career in public service as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit, prosecuting a broad range of criminal cases from 1979 to 1981, including serious felony and homicide matters. He ultimately served as a Circuit Court Division Head before moving into private practice in 1981.

Throughout his career, Michael has handled numerous jury trials and has achieved multiple seven-figure outcomes for his clients. His experience extends to family and criminal law matters, providing strategic counsel and strong courtroom representation in emotionally and legally complex cases.

Beyond his work in the courtroom, Michael has remained active in civic and legal organizations. He has served as President of the Board for Five STAR Veterans’ Center and held roles on the Board of Directors for the Greater Jacksonville Area USO. He has also supported education and community growth through his involvement with the Board of Visitors for the FSU College of Law and other nonprofit boards.
