Melanie A. Liska

Melanie A. Liska is a partner at Tarrant & Liska, PLLC, where she helps Minnesota clients with estate planning law, probate, trust administration, guardianships, conservatorships, and real estate matters. She advises individuals and families on legal concerns involving property, incapacity, estate transfers, and court-supervised decision-making. She also serves on Ramsey County’s court-appointed Guardianship and Conservatorship panel.

Melanie earned her B.A. in Sociology from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She earned her J.D. cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law in 2001. She received C.A.L.I. Awards for Excellence in Estate and Gift Taxation and in Negotiating and Drafting Business Agreements. She also earned academic scholarships and appeared on the Dean’s List during her studies.

Melanie helps clients prepare wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, beneficiary arrangements, and other estate-planning documents. She assists personal representatives, trustees, heirs, and beneficiaries with contested and uncontested probate proceedings, asset inventories, creditor claims, taxes, and property distributions. She also represents people involved in guardianship and conservatorship matters, including proceedings that affect the rights and care of vulnerable individuals. Her real estate background supports her ability to address property concerns connected with broader personal and estate plans.

Melanie A. Liska contributes to Minnesota’s legal community through her professional leadership and volunteer service. She belongs to the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Ramsey County Bar Association. She formerly co-chaired the Ramsey County Bar Association’s Real Estate Section and Solo/Small Firm Section. She volunteered through the “Ask the Lawyer” program at the West 7th Community Center from 2007 through 2023. Her court appointments, community involvement, and broad planning experience reflect her commitment to practical guidance and attentive representation
