About

Maureen T. Holland is the owner of Holland & Associates PC, where she has built a reputation as a dedicated advocate for employee rights and civil liberties. With decades of experience practicing law, she focuses her practice on representing current and former employees in a wide range of employment law matters. Her work includes handling employment discrimination cases involving race, gender, age, disability, and national origin claims, as well as severance agreements, non-compete disputes, breach of contract cases, and other employment-related legal challenges. Known for her holistic, client-focused approach, Maureen seeks practical solutions that serve her clients’ best interests in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation.

Maureen earned her J.D., cum laude, from Vermont Law School. She is licensed to practice in Tennessee and Vermont state courts, the U.S. District Court for Western Tennessee, the Fifth and Sixth U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Her early legal career included clerking for four State of Vermont trial courts and serving as the first legal counsel and Interim Executive Officer for the Vermont Water Resources Board. In Memphis, she clerked for the Honorable Jon Phipps McCalla of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee before becoming a partner and owner at her own firm.

Beyond her day-to-day practice, Maureen is a proven leader in the employment law community. She currently serves as President of the Tennessee Employment Lawyers Association (TENNELA) and as a board member of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Previously, she chaired the Memphis Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section and its Wellness Committee. Maureen is also appointed as a Special Judge in Shelby County General Sessions Court when called upon, reflecting the trust placed in her legal judgment and experience.

Notably, Maureen T. Holland was part of the Tennessee legal team for Tanco v. Haslam, which became part of the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges case that secured the right to marry for same-sex couples nationwide. Clients trust Maureen to bring skilled advocacy, experience, and a commitment to justice in every case she handles.
