Matthew T. Martens is a highly experienced litigator known for representing clients in complex criminal and civil matters nationwide. He has successfully led 26 trials and argued 18 appeals, appearing as both prosecutor and defense counsel in high-stakes cases involving securities fraud, patent issues, and more.
Matthew began his academic path with a BA in Accounting from Cedarville College, graduating with highest honors. He later earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary, again with top honors. He completed his legal education as valedictorian of the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he earned his JD with highest honors.
Matthew built a distinguished government career, serving as Chief Litigation Counsel at the SEC and as Chief of Staff at the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. At the SEC, he led a major litigation unit and earned the Chairman’s Award for Excellence for his strategic leadership following a landmark Supreme Court decision.
