Matthew L. Preston

Matthew L. Preston focuses his legal practice on commercial litigation, representing clients in high-stakes disputes across state and federal courts. With a strong litigation record, he has handled a wide range of cases involving business conflicts, insurance matters, and financial fraud. Matthew earned a Bachelor of Business degree in Economics, with honors, from the University of Iowa. He later received his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1996. During law school, he served on the Iowa Law Review and was selected as one of only four students to compete in the National Moot Court Competition.

Matthew’s extensive trial experience has earned him recognition as a Fellow of both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers—prestigious honors reserved for a select percentage of attorneys. He is also an active member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Dean Mason Ladd Inn of Court, where he has served in leadership roles as President and Counselor.

He has held leadership positions in several bar associations, including Vice President of the Linn County Bar Association and President of the Iowa State Bar Association Young Lawyer Division.
