Matt Grimshaw

Matt Grimshaw is the founder of Grimshaw Law Group, P.C. and represents parties in bankruptcy matters, restructuring, and out-of-court workouts. His practice also covers litigation arising from debtor-creditor relationships, including disputes involving notes and guarantees, writs of attachment, receiverships, wrongful foreclosures, mortgage-elimination schemes, and injunctions. He has built his practice around helping clients address financial distress, enforcement issues, and complex bankruptcy-related disputes.

Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brigham Young University. He later attended Willamette University College of Law, where he graduated with honors and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution. His economics training and legal education provide a useful foundation for analyzing financial relationships, creditor rights, restructuring strategies, and the procedural issues that often arise in bankruptcy litigation.

Grimshaw began his legal career with a two-year judicial clerkship for the Honorable John E. Ryan. He first served as a trial law clerk and then as an appellate law clerk when Judge Ryan became chief judge of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Ninth Circuit. He later practiced with law firms handling bankruptcy, restructuring, and workout matters, building substantial experience in both contested proceedings and advisory work.

Matt Grimshaw has also contributed to the bankruptcy bar through professional and community service. He has served on the Orange County Bankruptcy Forum board, chaired the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section of the Orange County Bar Association, and participated in a Ninth Circuit committee evaluating bankruptcy judicial candidates. His practice combines litigation experience, restructuring knowledge, and practical judgment in matters where financial and legal risks must be addressed together.
